Hydrogen emits or absorbs photons when an electron jumps between quantized energy levels. Choose two levels and inspect the energy gap and the light associated with that transition.
Reference formula
In the Bohr picture, hydrogen energy levels are En = -13.6 eV / n². The photon energy is the absolute difference between the two levels, and λ ≈ 1240 eV·nm / ΔE.
